G-77 was comissioned to design an "ideal island" to be built in the river in downtown Copenhagen. The result is Invisible Island, a floating hexagonal space with walls composed of mirrors.

My Own Private Island

As part of the U-Turn Arts Quadrennial, the Danish collective Parfyme Deluxe has been given a waterfront space along the Kobenhavns River which winds through busy downtown Copenhagen.

In this section of central Copenhagen there is constant construction as the city is flushed with cash and keeps growing. Each new construction project along the river is required to post their architectural plans for a period of several months to inform the public and allow them a forum for possible dispute.

For the project My Own Private Island, I am inviting you to design and propose your own island for the river. The exhibition will exist on two levels. First, all proposals will be displayed on an outdoor billboard similar to the other architectural information boards that exist up and down the river. The exhibition will coincide with the biennial and a busy and as well as the area's tourist crunch which will be sure to gather an interesting crowd. In addition to this, each submission will be considered for possible construction under the criteria of feasibility, cost of materials, size, etc. Even the most outlandish architectural wonders will pass before a small board of decision makers. The top three proposals will be built for the opening.
